James Purdey, London. Best 12ga. self-opening sidelock, light weight, game gun completed ca. 1891. Weight: 6 lbs. 7 oz. Stock Dimensions: 15x 1 5/8x 2 3/8x 3/8 cast-off. Relatively new replacement steel barrels by. E. J. Churchill have 2 chambers with excellent bores (.731/.735), choked .013/.031, and minimum wall thickness of .030/.034. Barrels are perfect except for a tiny dent in the side of the right barrel, approximately 9 back from the muzzle, which is almost impossible to see without sighting down the side of the barrel into the light. Early self-opening action, nicely engraved, with the beautifully sculpted fences typical of the early guns, retains traces of the original hardening color and has all the most desirable features including hidden third fasteners, bushed firing pins, automatic safety, and double triggers. Very nicely figured straight-grip stock with splinter forend. Overall tight, mechanically perfect, and a very solid working gun well worth the money.

Price: $18500.00
