Joseph Gulley, London.  Superb pair of 24-bore (.58 cal.) English Dueling pistols by a best London maker, ca. 1800.  Overall length 15 ½”.  Beautifully swamped 10 ½” octagonal smoothbore damascus steel barrels with absolutely mint bores retain virtually all their original rich brown finish. Gold inlaid breech bands with sunken gold poincon bearing the maker’s name, “Gulley London”.  Peerless quality locks with sliding safeties and roller frizzens retain much of their original finish though case colors are faded a bit. Traces of the original fire blue remain on the frizzen springs and barrel wedges.  Engraved trigger guards retain most of the original black finish. Fully adjustable single set triggers. Highly figured, full length, walnut stocks retain virtually all the original finish. A minor crack appears near the muzzle end of one stock and could be easily repaired (included in price). Ramrods are both original. Original maker’s case with a number of original accessories including a rare, proper flintlock era, pistol powder flask and flint wallet. The bullet mould is not original. Overall a superb pair of early English dueling pistols in wonderful, original, near mint condition throughout. Very difficult to find in this condition today.
